From the 9th to the 12th of October, Hocoma went to Budapest in Hungary to participate in the The European Congress of NeuroRehabilitation 2019. The congress aimed to keep an important dialogue between the countries in Europe, but also between colleagues from all over the world in the NeuroRehabiltation sector. Hocoma had the great pleasure to host a lunch symposium on the Topic: Intelligent use of Advanced Rehabilitation Technology with Prof. Dr. Volker Hömberg, ( SRH Bad Wimpfen), Roberto Llorens, (Polytechnical University in Valencia and Vithas Hospitals) and Tamsin Reed (The Harley Street Clinical And The Portland Hospital HCA Healthcare UK).
At our booth we showcased Lokomat®, Armeo® and Andago® and many attendees could experiment the Hocoma Total Solution Live.
Neurorehabilitation specialists from all over Europe and world met in Budapest and an interesting fact from our point of view was the very prominent role technology for neurorehabilitation played in this congress. The scientific program included workshops, keynote lectures, panel discussions, submitted paper sessions, ask-the-expert sessions and many more. Many of these were specifically focusing on technology and the role it plays in neurorehabilitation, but technology was also omnipresent in other sessions.
While there were many discussions about the use and effect of technology, experts agreed that technology can be successfully integrated into daily clinical life to increase therapy intensity, and hence to improve patients’ outcomes. It was further agreed that the correct use of the devices, and therefore continued education are crucial! It was also discussed that currently available evidence might not be able to show the full advantages of the devices and that current studies should choose designs and outcome measures very wisely.
Abstracts of submitted contributions for this conference can be found here.
We are looking forward to the next edition of ECNR in 2021!
